Evidence
~ ISI Investigation has a policy that evidence will be collected from a fire scene when we are legally authorized to do so.
~ Evidence
may only be collected when the legal owner of the evidence has authorized
the removal of the evidence from the fire scene.
~ Evidence,
once removed from the fire scene, will be securely stored by the ISI Investigator.
~ If we receive instructions to have the evidence tested,
ISI Investigators will securely transport the evidence to the Engineer or
Testing Company.
~ When
evidence is moved from the care, custody and control of an ISI Investigator,
this action will be documented with photographs, signatures and dates to
maintain a chain of custody.
~ ISI Investigators protect the evidence from all alterations
during the storage or examination by other individuals.
~ Evidence will be discarded only after ISI receives proper authorization.
~ ISI Investigators are fully trained to avoid evidence spoliation when involved with subrogation or litigation.
